2010 Gala Information

In 2006 we attended 8 gala's, in 2007 this rose to 11 galas, 2008 was 17 and a projected 28 events will be attended in 2009.

The committee, helpers and coaches simply cannot arrange and help out at this many gala events. Therefore, following a meeting on Friday 25th September, it was decided that as a club we will only be attending the galas listed below. County Championships and mini league dates will also be attended.

The criteria was to attend one gala a month. Two galas per month maybe listed and these are generally a Level 2 for County swimmers and a level 4 for non county swimmers. There may also be some cross over on level 3 meets, but it is assumed that swimmers will only attend one of these galas and not both.

Swimmers may attend galas that the club have chosen not to attend, however it is up to the parents to organise this direct with the host club and to arrange poolside supervision.

Katie Higgon cannot attend the majority of Sunday events due to personal commitments, but will attend all county and mini league events. Katie will almost certainly attend all Saturday galas where both First Strokes AND Harwich DP S.C. attend. All parents wishing to assist poolside should request a CRB form from our Chairman Greg Potter and any new parents wishing to help will be greatly appreciated. It is not really fair for just a few parents each time to give up their entire weekend, if parents can perhaps just do a session each it will allow the parents who are presently poolside to enjoy their child's events as well.
